I was attracted to trying the Sheraton because I had heard it had won awards as the best hotel in Surabaya.

We were pleasantly surprised on arrival to receive a free upgrade from the (standard) Deluxe room to a Premium room.

This hotel is family-friendly. There was plenty of room for everyone in the family to sleep, because the beds in the twin room were like two double beds. The kiddie pool is well-designed; it allows parents to easily join in or watch nearby. For more senior guests, the bathroom had an anti-slip mat and handlebars for easy access to the shower, bath, etc.

The other facilities are comprehensive, including a large gym, spa, sauna, business centre and large buffet breakfast. In room broadband internet was free and faster than at home, and wi-fi is available elsewhere. The flatscreen TV had a full range of channels, including movies, sports and kids channels.

We were made to feel very welcome, and the staff’s ability in English was surprisingly good.

My only area for improvement were the pillows; as a side-sleeper, they were too soft for my liking.

However, I would still recommend this hotel to friends and family, especially seniors and those with children.

Not a bad hotel, being a football tragic (the oval ball type not that round ball nil all draw nonsense), I enjoyed the wide screen tv. The selection of channels was also good unlike many hotels who supposedly offer sat/cable tv and it turns out to be essentially unwatchable.

The pool is indeed great, with overhanging trees and shade. Staff were well above average and very attentive with the younger ones if you are in the family situation. Not the most luxurious of the five star hotels in Surabaya but probably the best value for money.

    Well recommended, particulary for families.
