The Rimba Orangutan Eco Lodge Hotel is located in the lush tropical setting of the Tanjung Puting National Park, along the river Sekonyer, and can be reached only by boat from down river at the port of Kumai. From the lodge you can travel by traditional klotok vessels (wooden boats) upstream to a variety of orangutan feeding stations in the Park, the most famous being Camp Leakey, set up in 1971 by Diane Fossey, among others.
The accommodation at the Lodge consists of a number of elevated pavilions each containing three rooms with its own covered verandah and boardwalk to the river’s edge, with other walkways connecting the pavilions to the restaurant, reception, lounge and office. Macaque monkeys flitter about the hotel complex while Proboscis monkeys can often be seen across the river. Prices per night start from n/a, with breakfast included; more expensive rooms also have air conditioning. Reserve a room.
